Due to funding reasons, currently we are not working with TICO interns. However we are welcoming volunteer interns through other college programs like Hostos, Lehman and Fordham. in order to assist us with our work. If you are interested in interning and learning about organizing and interning feel free to contact us.

We currently receive traning and support from our affiliates, the Gamaliel Foundation and the National Training and Information Center.
2008
TICO Apprentices work for the NWBCCC for a period of three months. During this time, Apprentices will train daily with a NWBCCC organizer and receive evaluations at six weeks and at the end of three months. At the end of the Apprenticeship, Apprentices who have successfully finished their training, and wish to continue in the field of organizing will receive job placement assistant from the NWBCCC.
Responsibilities:
- Assist lead organizer in day to day coordination of neighborhood organizing campaigns
- Organize one tenant associations
- Organize one community meeting
- Attend weekly supervisory meetings and all evaluations
- Must attend weekly staff meetings and participate in a staff peer accountability team
Requirements:
- Minimum one year experience in organizing, activism, or related field.
- Commitment to social justice and understanding of community organizing approach to social change.
- Flexibility and strong interest in working as part of a team with other staff and neighborhood leadership.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
- Flexible Hours (to be determined at time of hire)
Compensation:
- Stipend of $12/hour (paid bi-monthly)
- Excellent training in community organizing
- Job Placement Assistance with Community Based Organizations with open positions
- Monthly Metrocard
