Being a leader here in the NWBCCC means working with others to develop a shared vision for the future of our communities, our society and the world. We actively uphold our mission and values by developing concrete goals that continue to define our purpose and guide our footsteps. Our leaders drive the organization forward by creating a disciplined and welcoming atmosphere. They want to create change through active participation, including helping others do for themselves with inspiration, support and guidance. We strive to model responsible behavior for others thereby building trust among our membership. Most importantly, we aim to always look for opportunities to restore justice where there is injustice.
We seek out those individuals and groups that are reliable and can work with others; want to work towards building community through integrity; learn and pass on information; are engaged and make things happen; are enthusiastic and focused; and are ambitious and fired up. Our leaders remain in the organization because they experience and play a role in real changes, they get to exercise their values in the world, and they gain a sense of purpose and shared power.
The Community Leadership Academy is designed for those of us who want to be leaders. We want to transform the world and ourselves into agents of justice. We know we deserve and can achieve a more democratic and just society. And now we have a place to make that happen!
Here at the Community Leadership Academy we learn the skills and the tools to build power and be a leader. We pick up the torch for social justice and carry it on into the future.
